One of our favourite off-the-beaten track lodges, Singita Pamushana in Zimbabwe reopens in mid-May 2018 following a fabulous refurbishment. Set on a hilltop overlooking the 130,000-acre Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, the lodge holds a proud heritage while also heralding a new Zimbabwean optimism.
The lodge deck and living space have been extended, maximising the connection to the natural beauty of the surrounding reserve. Refreshed interiors remain inspired by the local Shangaan culture, with bold African patterns of ochre tan, ebony black, ivory white and leopard gold setting the tone.
A pair of new two-bedroom suites have also been added. Located a short distance from the main lodge, these will offer extra privacy and exclusivity and will be ideal for both couples travelling together or families with older children. These additions will bring the lodge’s total offering to just eight suites and a private five-bedroom villa, ensuring it remains as intimate as ever.
Days here are spent on game drives where you can spot all of the big five - including a healthy population of reintroduced black and white rhinos. When you’re not tracking wildlife, you’ll have your own private plunge pool to cool off in.
For those who feel the need to ‘deserve’ this treat, Singita combines perfectly with fly camping in neighbouring Gonarezhou National Park where we can arrange excellent private guides to take you walking in the magnificent red sandstone Chilojo Cliffs. You can also fly from the lodge’s own airstrip to the majestic Victoria Falls, where the recently opened airport has made accessibility better than ever.
