Although it’s just a short distance from the capital port city of Muscat, The Chedi feels a world away. Set in 21 acres, with views over the water gardens and up to the Hajar mountains, and its own private 370 metre beach, it’s a serene spot in stark contrast to the bustling souks nearby.
Everything about The Chedi is on a grand scale. The elegant white Moorish buildings house rooms and suites, all of which feature evocative details of Oman’s culture, but are minimalist in style – wood panels, with brown and cream tones. Our favourites are the Chedi Club Suites, where you’ll be able to slip into sunken terrazzo baths, or enjoy the air on your own private terrace with panoramic views out over the Gulf of Oman.
There are three pools – one of which is over 100 metres long – each with their own cabana bar, and eight restaurants. The resort also has the largest spa in Muscat, with Balinese, Indian and traditional Omani treatments on the menu.
And when you’re ready to venture out, the busy souks, sun-bleached fortresses and towering dunes of Oman are just a stone’s throw away.
