Rosa Alpina, Dolomites

Italy

Heavenly mountain retreat with Michelin starred dining in the heart of the Dolomites.

Step inside the doors of Rosa Alpina and owner Hugo Pizzinini and his staff will welcome you like you are a long-lost friend. Family owned for over three generations, this chic alpine hotel simply exudes warmth and cosiness.

Each of its 51 spacious rooms and suites are individually decorated with natural woods and luxury linens. We recommend staying in one of the unique Loft Suites. Here, you can watch the changing light on the mountains from your south facing terrace, then curl up on the sofa while a log fire crackles in the open plan living area.

Dining is exceptional, with the St Hubertus restaurant recognised as one of Italy’s best. Head chef Norbert Niederkofler, who has been at the helm for over 20 years, was recently awarded a third Michelin star for his Dolomites inspired dishes. If you fancy something more informal, head to the Wine Bar & Grill for a delicious wood fired pizza. The separate indoor pools, one specifically for families, and fabulous spa are ideal places to unwind after an active day in the mountains.

And a stay here is all about the outdoors. The spectacular mountain scenery draws skiers in the winter, with the world famous Dolomiti Superski area easily accessible. Stay during the summer months, and there are hiking and biking trails aplenty to enjoy, perfect whether you’re an active family or an energetic couple. You could even spend a night at the hotel’s own mountain hut. At an altitude of 2,000 metres, you’ll experience peaceful solitude and unbeatable mountain panoramas with food provided by the hotel. Breakfast will be waiting for you in the morning, along with a delivery of mountain bikes to make your way back to the hotel on.
