Beautiful Rajasthani architecture in the heart of the old walled city.
The famous old walled city of Jodhpur is rich in history, and Raas is no exception. Housed in an 18th century haveli, or Indian townhouse, the hotel retains a lot of its classic charm. Four original buildings still stand, in the intricate carved stone style, alongside three contemporary structures. Raas fits perfectly with its city-centre surroundings in terms of architecture, but it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of Jodhpur just outside the gates. This is a corner of calm in a city that’s anything but. Strolling through the grounds is a pleasure; you’ll find old stables converted to snug reading alcoves, and the Darikhana (‘Chamber of Carpets’) is now a lovely spot for al fresco dining.
Your room is a sleek modern take on those classic Rajput principles. We recommend choosing a suite with views of the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, the 15th century hilltop stronghold that dominates the city skyline. Don’t just see it from a distance though – take advantage of the hotel’s central location and head out to the fort yourself for a guided tour. Most of the city’s best sightseeing spots are walking or tuk-tuk distance from the hotel, too.
