Eastern & Oriental Express

Thailand

Spectacular ever-changing views in five-star comfort aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express.

There’s little that evokes a sense of old-school glamour more than watching exotic landscapes unfold from the window of a classic locomotive train. And in this case, the train is a destination in itself. Step on board the green and gold carriages to find Cherry wood panelling and colonial-style décor, with Thai silks and Malaysian embroidery.

Stroll from your Oriental-inspired suite down the train and stop off at the Saloon Car to pick a book from the on-board library, or follow the sound of the resident pianist to the Bar Car for one of their signature cocktails. At the rear of the train, you’ll find the open-air Observation Car, where you can take in the sights, sounds and scents of Asia as it rolls by. Dinner on board is one of our highlights too; haute cuisine from around the world, prepared by internationally renowned chefs.

The train’s main Bangkok to Singapore route was inspired by the 1932 movie Shanghai Express (although there are other routes to choose from). You’ll pass towns, tea plantations and sleepy coastal villages, stop off to visit mosques, palaces and galleries – and even take a cruise along the River Kwai.
