Art Deco elegance and unspoilt beaches in Halkidiki.
Walk the halls of the Danai and you’ll spot art and antiques which the owner has bought specially for the hotel. Those touches, combined with the light, spacious, airy rooms, marble floors and stylish furniture all add up to an elegant Art Deco charm. This is a charming place for those with refined taste.
Our pick of the suites is the Danai Villa, built right into the hillside. Whether seen from your floor-to-ceiling windows, your heated infinity pool, or with dinner on your private deck, the view out over Makria Lagada beach and on to the warm Aegean Sea is equally spectacular.
The hotel itself is on the pine-fringed shores of the Sithonia peninsula, beside an unspoilt 314 metre private beach. Candle-lit dinner on the sand, just metres from the surf, is our favourite way to spend an evening at the Danai. You can even pick your wines before dinner with a private tasting in the resort’s own cellar, too.
If you want a change of pace from leisurely waves breaking on the shore, we recommend biking the dirt roads of Mount Itamos. The hotel has plenty else to keep you occupied too, from dancing and cookery lessons, to catamaran excursions and fishing.
