A deserted island paradise out in the Indian Ocean.
If you’re looking to get away from it all, Cousine Island is the place for you. A 15-minute helicopter flight from Mahe island, this little resort is made up of just four French colonial villas and one enormous Presidential villa. Hire the Presidential villa, and you’ll have your own gym, spa, pool and full-time butler and chef. And if sharing the island with a few other people still sounds too much, you can hire the entire resort to yourself.
The island is a nature-lover’s paradise, and conservation is a big focus. You’ll share the space with plenty of tropical birds, and encounters with Aldabra giant tortoises are common. There’s plenty of fishing, diving and snorkelling in the rich waters around the island, too. If you like, you can help out with the conservation efforts by releasing baby Hawksbill or Green Turtle hatchlings.
Or, of course, you could choose to do nothing at all. Just stroll on the white sand beach, or relax at sunset with a glass of champagne in your own infinity pool. If you’re feeling extravagant, a helicopter sightseeing tour is a spectacular way to enjoy the island archipelago.
