Amankila, Bali

Get away from it all on Bali’s quiet east coast

Amankila translates from the Sanskrit for ‘peaceful hill’. True to its name, a stay here will have you feeling serene in no time.

From its clifftop position, you can see the turquoise waters of the Lombok Strait stretching out in front of you. Inspired by Bali’s cascading rice terraces, the three-tiered infinity pool is the best place for you to take in the sublime views. At the bottom of the hill you’ll find a private stretch of beach which ranks among the island’s best.

Your free-standing, thatch roofed suite is designed to resemble a Balinese beach hut. You’ll find the interiors to be anything but rustic though, with vaulted ceilings, canopied beds and expansive terraces setting the tone. Each suite has been cleverly elevated to maximise the sea views. We suggest selecting one of the Pool Suites, where your own private walled courtyard ensures maximum privacy.

At the open-air restaurant, you’ll have a front row view of the ocean. Ingredients are locally sourced, with ducks raised at the resort’s nearby farm and herbs grown in their own garden. A variety of traditional Indonesian and international dishes are on the menu. And if you don’t want to leave your lounger, you can choose to dine poolside or at the beach club.

If you’re travelling with children, there’s a separate pool and playroom to keep them occupied. Babysitting can also be arranged, allowing you to enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach with total peace of mind.
