The Villa Experience

Sandfontein offers something increasingly rare – complete privacy on an extraordinary scale. One group at a time has exclusive access to 97,000 hectares of Southern Namibian wilderness, with accommodation for up to 18 guests, a private chef, dedicated service team and experienced guides. Days are entirely flexible, with no fixed schedules, allowing guests to explore the reserve at their own pace or simply enjoy the space and seclusion of the lodge.

The Main Lodge forms the heart of Sandfontein, with indoor and outdoor living areas, a bar, terrace, open-air firepit and 20m lap pool. Nearby are four spacious Stone Suites and the larger Sand Suite, which is set apart for greater privacy. Five kilometres away, Lost Poet Villa provides a particularly private option for up to eight guests, with four bedrooms, panoramic views, its own living areas and a 17m lap pool. Each suite also has its own StarBed, offering the chance to sleep outside beneath Namibia’s exceptionally clear night sky.

Experiences are shaped around each group, from nature drives and guided wildlife tracking to kayaking, swimming or fishing along the Orange River. Guests can explore historic battlefield sites and ancient geological formations, head into the wilderness for wild camping or spend an evening stargazing. With meals, drinks and reserve activities included, the experience is designed to be both highly personalised and effortless.

Location Overview

Sandfontein is set in a remote corner of Southern Namibia, within 97,000 hectares of arid plains, ancient riverbeds and dramatic mountains. The reserve also encompasses 25km of frontage along the Orange River, creating a striking contrast between the rugged desert landscape and the river corridor. Its vast scale and exclusive-use format mean guests can explore without the schedules or shared vehicles associated with a traditional safari lodge.

Despite its secluded setting, Sandfontein is accessible by road or via its private airstrip. Direct charter flights can be arranged from Windhoek, while private charter flights are available from Cape Town. Another option is to fly domestically to Upington and continue to Sandfontein by vehicle.
