Things to do
Activity can strike almost immediately for those that like to start their holiday with a bang. Paraglide directly into the resort, giving you your first glimpse of Zighy Bay’s extraordinary location before landing on the sandy shoreline. You can also take to the skies in a microlight to peacefully soar over remote fishing villages and rugged landscapes.
If you prefer staying firmly on land, explore the pathways into the mountains, discovering ancient villages, cultural relics and tombs and date plantations. Watch sunset over a dramatic gorge to round off the day. Of course, the clear waters of the Gulf of Oman will be a natural draw for snorkelling and diving, traditional line fishing for snapper or boarding a private yacht or dhow for the day, seeking hidden bays. Come home for a relaxing hammam or Arabian facial treatment in the spa before closing the day with an outdoor movie screening under the stars or a romantic dinner atop the wine tower, watching the glittering moon reflected in the Omani Gulf.
Sleeping
Six Senses know well how clients like their privacy and at Zighy Bay each stone-built villa and suite is backed by the seclusion of the high mountain walls, with its own private pool with rattan shaded outdoor patio. Inside, interiors are cool respites from the sun, with Omani décor that makes use of stone and wood, with plenty of plump-cushioned spots for relaxing. The two Beach Retreats which sit in secluded spots at either end of the beach are set over two storeys and great for families or groups with plenty of space, a larger private pool and three bedrooms.
Food & Drink
Staying at Zighy Bay is a great opportunity to indulge your senses in Arabian cuisine while you soak up the incredible landscapes around you. One of the best spots to do this is the cliffside ‘Sense on the Edge’, an elevated restaurant of 293-metres which overlooks the azure bay. Sample the chef’s carefully curated menus, matched with international wines that fuse Asian flavours with local ingredients. For something more traditional, try the Spice Market, decked out in local designs from earthenware pots to chunky seating and lantern-style lights. Here savour food from around the Musandam Peninsula and further afield in the Middle East including mezze platters, sizzling seafood, and spiced vegetable dishes.
