Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman

Six Senses Zighy Bay is dramatically located between the Dibba Mountains and a long sweeping bay in Oman’s Musandam Peninsula. Experience the theatrics of this rugged landscape by paragliding into the resort, although the 4×4 journey through the mountainous Musandam Peninsula is equally thrilling. It’s easy to settle into a relaxed routine at Zighy Bay, perhaps with morning swims in the Arabian Sea, afternoon pool time or heading out on adventures such as mountain biking in the Hajar Mountains. A great choice for families, the hotel has spacious four-bedroom villas which come with a 17-metre pool. The kids’ club is also brilliant with tailored activities for little ones such as rock painting or pizza making; older kids can go wadi jumping or try archery freeing up time for adults to head to the spa for an Arabian hammam or facial.

“You’ll be surprised how much this remote corner of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula has to offer – from fishing to hang gliding, scuba diving and village treks, plus sunbathing, spa and beach, you can be as active as you like.”

MUST DO

Have a tour around the surprisingly lush organic garden before taking an Arabian cookery class – whizz up wonders like mezze or Arabian grills, plus herbal organic mixology master classes.

Six Senses Con Dao, Vietnam

The rejuvenating qualities of a holiday on a blissfully secluded tropical island should not be underestimated. This is where Six Senses island retreat Con Dao in Vietnam really comes into its own for a sizzlingly exotic getaway on a whiter-than-white beach heralded as the finest in South East Asia. Hidden in a protected national and marine park, there’s a castaway ambience at Con Dao, with all the trappings of a luxe getaway and excellent service of course. Spend your days by your private pool alongside your airy reclaimed teakwood villa, or snorkel in the pristine national marine park. It is an quick walk from your villa to a gorgeous beach, where the only footsteps in the sand will be yours and feast on zingy Asian salads and curries or fresh grilled seafood. This is a hideaway you won’t want to leave.

“For those who love the feel of an island retreat, Con Dao with its luxe take on chic island living is the perfect choice.”

MUST DO

Here it’s all about relaxation – but if activity strikes, sail away on the ocean to try your hand at fishing while you watch the sun set or perhaps take a tour of the island seeing temples, shrines, markets and local inhabitants along the way.

Six Senses Douro Valley

Follow the Douro River from Portugal’s historic city Porto, and you’ll find yourself in the UNESCO-protected Douro Valley, home to the world’s oldest wine-producing region. If this wasn’t already reason enough to visit, it’s also the location of one of Six Senses most magnificent and elegant hotels – Six Senses Douro Valley. A refined 19th century mansion, the hotel overlooks the emerald green river, clasped by verdant greens and neat rows of vines. Bringing together two of life’s greatest pleasures – wine and wellness – the hotel embodies the good life with wine tours, river cruises and free time spent in the lavish spa where you can indulge in water therapies and treatments which use grapes grown on-site. Evenings are for dining in style on the terrace or formal dining room, sampling Portuguese specialities such as clams, sardines and rich pork stew, accompanied of course, with plenty of wine.

“A refined way to enjoy the oldest wine region in the world, Six Senses Douro Valley is perfectly placed for an explorative yet restful foray in rural Portugal, sampling wines, eating well and rejuvenating in the spa”

MUST DO

If you go in September or October be sure to participate in the unique task of stomping the grapes barefoot in stone lagares (granite stone tanks), an unusual experience you’re sure not to forget!
