Things to do
Thornybush Private Reserve has retained a true feeling of wilderness, is home to phenomenal wildlife and offers some of the purest safari in South Africa. Days are dominated by exquisitely orchestrated safari activities – exploring with deeply experienced guides from this idyllic bend on the Monwana Rover.
Sleeping
Just nine suites are dotted in the dappled shade around the main area, each looking out over the Monwana River.
Huge tented suites with fresh botanical prints, sweeping floaty drapes and box-fresh linens make the rooms a sanctuary. The bathrooms continue the effortless sense of calm and space with freestanding baths, vast deluge showers and zingy natural soaps.
Food & Drink
Expect a dining experience that starts at dawn and belies your location deep in the savannah. South Africa has spearheaded a culinary revolution and is rightly famed for its crisp wines and world-leading cuisine. Meals are inspired by traditional recipes but with a signature twist to each dish. The freshest vegetables from the kitchen garden complement delectable meat and fish dishes. Lighter bites are served through the heat of the day with indulgent breakfasts and dinners served under the stars.
