The Grand Dame of Mauritius hotels, the One&Only Saint Géran is old school hospitality at its best. With a gorgeous swathe of white sand beach over one-mile-long, incredible service and a long-standing reputation, the hotel deservedly benefits from repeat visitors year after year.
That’s not to say it’s stuffy or old fashioned. With a recent multi-million upgrade, the resort feels fresh and modern with contemporary design fusing beautifully with the original colonial architecture. Constance Prince Maurice
Located on the northeast coast of Mauritius on its own peninsula, Constance Prince Maurice is secluded and private, offering two divine beaches, a gasp-worthy infinity pool, two championship golf course and three restaurants. You’ll find it hard to summon a reason to leave this tropical idyll.
In terms of accommodation, there’s plenty of choice to suit everyone. We love the romantic thatched Junior Suites which are stilted over the lagoon and have sunset views. With the same attention to detail amid the minimalist, tropical-luxe interiors, LUX* Belle Mare is a contemporary resort that is perhaps Mauritius’ trendiest and most relaxed hotel.
With a cool, white-on-white décor under thatched roofs, LUX* Belle Mare’s accommodation comes in the form of suites and villas which are a combiantion of family, ocean view, beach or wellness. Asian style meets classic island architecture sums up Shangri-La Le Tousserok. Since Shangri-La took over the hotel in 2015, the resort feels refreshed yet still rooted in the local environment, making use of salvaged wood with sandy pathways winding through the untamed garden and low-rise cottages cradled around palm trees giving way to powdery soft beaches and the azure Indian Ocean.
We recommend staying in the Frangipani Club, a collection of spacious suites set apart by a wooden bridge with its own pool. The jewel in Le Tousserok’s crown is perhaps its own private island, just ten minutes away by boat, where guests can revel in a barefoot castaway experience, where spa treatments, dining on the beach or simply wandering around this all-natural paradise is all part of your experience.

Due to Le Tousserok’s extensive grounds, the resort feels private with plenty of space. For that reason, we think it works well for families, especially the two-bedroom Frangipani Club suites which open out directly onto the beach.
