LUX* Grand Baie Resort & Residences

A first-class entry to Mauritius, this modernist, new generation boutique hotel sits on the emerald-blue waters of Grand Baie.

A recent addition to Mauritius’s hotel scene – its reigning principles were straightforward – to create the most luxurious hotel on the island, where new luxury blends with the spirited vibe of tropical island living.

“Located in the north of Mauritius, lavish hotel LUX* Grand Baie is cradled around the crystal-clear waters of Grand Baie lagoon, with spacious and stylish suites creating the ultimate tropical escape.”

Things to do

Make LUX* Grand Baie your base to explore this fascinating island. Enjoy its luxurious take on tropical living with laid-back beachside suites which are as spacious as they are stylish. The white-sand beach is a great draw for families and couples love the cutting-edge wellness spa. Head out onto the ocean for snorkelling trips to spot marine life such as turtles, reef sharks and octopus.

Sleeping

With a contemporary modern design, LUX* Grand Baie’s residences and villas are the essence of luxe style. With interior décor created by Kelly Hoppen, expect a white-on-white design, swathes of chunky marble, standalone tubs, terrazzo-tiled bathrooms, designer lighting and wide terraces edged by palm trees.  Blending into the natural environment and overlooking the sheltered turquoise lagoon, LUX* Grand Baie’s elegant villas and smart residences feel very private and the calm interiors have a supremely comfortable atmosphere. The largest would make the perfect retreat for a family – Grand Beach Villa, set over two floors with three bedrooms, has its own chef and outdoor barbecue.

Food & Drink

Whether you’re a toes-in-the-sand kind of person or prefer more formal dining, LUX* Grand Baie has it covered. Although it’s good to take advantage of Mauritius’s bourgeoning foodie scene with zingy curries and creamy Creole dishes, the hotel gives you an opportunity to feast in style at its exotic Japanese restaurant Ai KISU which has its own soya sauce sommelier, plus fruity cocktails and authentic Warayaki straw fire cooking. The cool, day-to-night Beach Rouge bar and restaurant is the place for seafood lunches and sundowners; rooftop Bisou bar is the hot ticket for tropical views.

What Stands Out

We think LUX* Grand Baie makes family holidays extremely easy and relaxed. Everyone loves the gorgeous, calm beach and parents can luxuriate in the spa while kids run the gauntlet of activities at the kids’ club which are designed for all ages including an ‘ice cream lab’, junior yoga, windsurfing, DJ-ing and vintage gaming.

Best For

The way in which LUX* Grand Baie has been designed means that the hotel is suitable for everyone. They’ve seemingly thought of everything from the state-of-the-art spa to a late-night cocktail bar, kids’ club to beautiful beachside residences. Plus, you’ve also got the diversity of Mauritius on your doorstep to explore.

The Verdict

We’re impressed by this new addition to the luxury hotel scene of Mauritius. Big fans of the island, we can see this modern take on tropical living becoming a firm favourite.
