DAZZLING GRANDE DAME
Bahia del Duque, Tenerife
One of our all-time favourite Canary Islands hotels, Bahia del Duque is our go-to hotel for couples and families looking for a high-quality hotel experience located in the heart of upmarket Costa Adeje. Rightly proud of its heritage, lavish Bahia del Duque and its pastel-coloured buildings stands as a beacon of excellence, with its 19th century colonial Canary charm and good old-fashioned service.
This sprawling hotel seems more like a Spanish village complete with five swimming pools, spa, star-gazing observatory, kids’ club and tennis courts but also suits holiday-makers who like to get out and experience the area – on your doorstep there’s designer shopping, extremely good restaurants and the beach is just across the road. For those looking for adventure a little further afield, we can arrange horse riding trips to the mountains or a hike to get a closer look at active volcano, Mount Teide.
Visitors to the Canaries need a negative PCR test on arrival. Speak to us about the best way to arrange this, so you can focus on getting the most out of your holiday at lavish Bahia del Duque.
Bohemia Suites & Spa, Gran Canaria
One of Gran Canaria’s most stylish hotels, Bohemia Suites & Spa is just five minutes’ walk from Playa del Ingles, a wide stretch of sand on the south coast of the island. Set back from the beach, with a view over the Maspalomas dunes and the crashing surf of the Atlantic Ocean, Bohemia has a modern, upmarket feel and bucks the trend of traditional Canary Island properties.
As well as two heated pools, the Siam Spa is the spot for unwinding with Asian-inspired treatments such as Thai and Balinese massage. On the rooftop, the adults-only 360-degree restaurant and cocktail bar, is ideal for a sunset aperitif or to try the six-course gourmand menu. For sleeping and downtime, we recommend opting for one of the roomy suites, such as the aptly named Sky Suite, with its dual panoramic views of the ocean, two terraces, an Illy coffee machine and a free-standing bath tub in the bedroom.
NEED TO KNOW
The Canary Islands has one of the lowest epidemiological indices in Europe and the lowest in Spain. At Bohemia Suites & Spa all restaurants, bars, spa and wellness areas are fully open, with some operational changes in place for optimum safety of the guests.
The Ritz-Carlton Abama, Tenerife
With commanding views over the Atlantic Ocean and the island of La Gomera, and quite a landmark in itself due to its pink-hued Moorish architecture and dramatic clifftop location, the Ritz-Carlton Abama redefines modern luxury with a contemporary take on resort holidays. Situated on Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, the hotel is a mecca to downtime with seven swimming pools, a large kids’ club, a luxury spa, a championship golf course and two Michelin-starred restaurants.
If this isn’t enough to keep you amused, the hotel’s friendly staff (numbering 800 in total) can give you information about hikes around Tenerife’s volcanic landscapes including exploring the caldera of Mount Teide, Europe’s tallest mountain. Oenophiles might be keen to discover Tenerife’s wine-making scene and foodies will find other Michelin-starred restaurants scattered around the island.
NEED TO KNOW
All international passengers receive a health check at the Canary Islands’ airports. Once you’ve arrived at the Abama, you are free to relax and enjoy your holiday, lying by one of its seven swimming pools or playing a round of golf.
Jardin Tecina, La Gomera
Arriving by ferry from Tenerife into La Gomera’s port San Sebastián, you’ll feel like an explorer discovering the island as its forest-clad peaks come into view. And in fact, this is exactly how Columbus felt when he stopped here on his way to the Americas. For you, you’ll benefit from a dual-island break with time spent on both Tenerife and La Gomera.
Simple yet elegant Jardin Tecina, wrapped around a cliffside location on the south of La Gomera, makes the most of the natural paradise on its doorstep with low-rise white-washed buildings topped by terracotta roofs, all clasped in overflowing greenery and colourful flowers. Between pockets of shrubbery there are four swimming pools; and beach-lovers (plus kids) will love the lift car down to Playa de Santiago. Rooms are simply furnished and light-filled – choose a Junior Suite for extra space and crittal-style doors that open onto balconies with sensational sea views. It’s worth getting out into the surrounding nature of La Gomera though for incredible hiking – discover ancient rainforests, flora and fauna filled valleys, volcanic landscapes and dramatic black pebble beaches.
NEED TO KNOW
Movement between the islands is fully reinstated and once you’re settled at Jardin Tecina you’ll see the improvements made in light of coronavirus including assisted buffets, increased hygiene and one-way systems.
Royal Garden Villas, Tenerife

Royal Garden Villas have created an upmarket, chic way to spend time as a family or small group with its stylish villas with pools, perfect for those that like some independence without compromising on luxury.

All the villas come with their own private pool, generous sundecks and terraces, fully stocked wine fridges, kitchenettes and spacious bathrooms replete with large bathtubs. If activity strikes drive to the nearest beach, five minutes away, or play a round on the adjoining golf course.
NEED TO KNOW
Wherever you are in the Canary Islands, masks must be worn when you’re outdoors but once you are in your luxe, cocooning villa at Royal Gardens, you can remove it. All the more reason to stay put and make use of the hotel’s extensive in-villa services.
