WHEN TO GO
We’d recommend taking this trip between December and April.
Honeymooners and couples who prefer smaller, boutique properties will love this tropical Caribbean combination.
HOW TO GET THERE & AROUND
Fly from London Heathrow to Barbados, then fly internally to Mustique, linking to Petit Saint Vincent by speedboat.
Days 1- 4 Barbados | Cobblers Cove
With an international flight bringing you directly to Barbados, you’ll have holiday mode activated in no time on this scene-stealer Caribbean island. With miles of powder-soft beaches, warm turquoise waters and a yacht-speckled Caribbean Sea, the island has stellar looks. It also has the ambience to match – there is a huge array of sophisticated dining options, cocktail spots and live music bars.
Our pick for a smaller, more intimate stay would be family-owned hotel Cobblers Cove. Found on a peaceful shoreside location in Barbados’ quieter west coast, the distinctive pinky hues of the former plantation house collide beautifully with the verdant palm trees and the aquamarine Caribbean Sea. The hotel has an elegant charm and refined glamour with unfailingly gracious staff that keeps guests coming back year after year. All the rooms are suites which all come with airy verandahs, replete with comfortable wicker furniture. Food is a highlight from wholesome breakfasts, the ever-popular afternoon tea and more formal dinners served on the terrace.
Day 4-8 Mustique | Cotton House
From Barbados, fly to Mustique for four nights at this St. Vincent and the Grenadines gem, a Caribbean island favoured by royalty and rock stars who come to enjoy the tropical playground in privacy. There is a discreet but undeniably social side to Mustique and the in-crowd tend to move between the Tennis Club, private villa parties and legendary Basil’s Bar, alongside languishing on the island’s sensational white sand beaches and taking to the seas for a day on a yacht.
You’ll be well-placed to dip in and out of Mustique’s rarified pleasures by staying at the boutique Cotton House, Mustique’s only hotel on an island made up of private villas and for that reason it often feels like the place to be. However, by staying at the hotel’s Residence, a two-bedroom hilltop villa with private pool and butler, you can enjoy seclusion when you feel like it. The Cotton House also has a dive centre where you’ll find the means to snorkel or scuba colourful coral gardens.
Days 8-15 Petit Saint Vincent
For your final week, treat yourself to the most spoiling private island retreat imaginable. Arrive in style by speedboat from Mustique to Petit Saint Vincent in the southern Grenadines – a lesser-known island with just one heavenly resort on it. On this island, life slows to a languid Caribbean pace and away from crowds, routines and life as you know, barefoot island living beckons.
Your home for the next week is boutique resort Petit Saint Vincent, a small, exotic hideaway that fully embraces its blissfully remote location with no TVs or WIFI in the rooms and a set-adrift ambience ready for you to project your own castaway fantasy onto. However, Petit Saint Vincent’s low-key vibe belies a sharp sense of service: staff are attentive without intrusion. With just 22 simple but stylish beach cabanas, life on the island is peaceful and quiet; interaction with other guests is at a minimum. Perfect for those that love an isolated paradise, find a stretch of empty beach, circumnavigate the island, pop into the Balinese-style spa or laze in a hammock with a cocktail.
