DAY 1-3: THE MIGHTY VICTORIA FALLS

A UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water and a truly phenomenal natural wonder. Soak up views on river walks or take a swim in Devil’s Pool – the world’s ultimate natural infinity pool.

There is an array of adrenaline fuelled activities on offer such as white-water rafting, bungee jumps and enthralling flights over the falls as well as more relaxing ways to take in its grandeur including evening sundowner cruises and dinners afloat on the Zambezi.

Thorntree River Lodge

With a top position right on the banks of the great Zambezi River in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, Thorntree is just 30 minutes from Victoria Falls. The lodge has ten elegant suites constructed of stone, canvas, glass and wood each with a deck and plunge pool overlooking the river. In addition to trips to the Falls, there's excellent activities offered from game drives and rhino trekking to fishing and local village visits.

DAY 4-7: EXCLUSIVE LINYANTI

Next, you’ll cross over the Botswana border where you will fly by light aircraft to the Linyanti Reserve. North of the Okavango, this pristine, private area is home to a wide variety of wildlife, from resident lions and African wild dog to large populations of elephant.

These wetlands are fed by the permanent water of the Kwando-Linyanti river systems as well as the Savute Channel and Selinda Spillway, acting as a magnet for wildlife. It is an exceptionally beautiful place which is notable for its predator action.

Zarafa, Botswana, Africa

Zarafa

Set on the sparkling Zibadianja Lagoon in the prime Selinda Concession of Linyanti, Zarafa is simply one of the best camps in Africa. Here, you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a luxurious bygone era, while experiencing exhilarating landscapes. There are just four huge guest tents at this intimate camp, which affords flexibility of game viewing activities which include walks, night drives and cruises aboard HMS Zib, the camp's very own pontoon.

DAY 8-11: WATERY WONDER OF THE OKAVANGO

A low-flying bush flight takes you between Botswana’s predator regions, an ‘aerial safari’ giving you an incredible perspective on the lush landscape. Countless animals traverse the plains and shallow waterways, and you’ll be in a prime position to spot wildlife as you fly over the Okavango Delta.

Here you will experience game drives in one of Africa’s wildest frontiers in search of big cats and plenty of other big game and no visit would be complete without gliding peacefully through flooded channels on an iconic mokoro – a traditional dugout canoe.

Vumbura, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Vumbura Plains

Luxurious Vumbura Plains and its smaller sister Little Vumbura are prime camps to experience some of the best game viewing in Botswana. The surrounding pristine wilderness is a heartland for lion, with several prides making it their home. Sleek and sophisticated, each suite has a large sunken living room, a sala, outdoor shower, private deck, and a plunge pool from where, if you sit still long enough, you may see lechwe or elephant wandering past.

Summary

This is a real bucket list safari, the holy grail for any wildlife fan. We have kept it limited to three places, but you can add more – perhaps spend some time in the Kalahari to explore how the ‘desert and delta’ are the ultimate contrast.
