Things to do
Whether you are a couple, a solo traveller, a family or group of friends, you can’t possibly be bored at Amanpuri. The dazzling beach is a great lure, where watersports await from a gentle paddleboard or kayak around Phuket’s sublime bays to a more exerting wakeboard. For something more culturally immersing, visit a local temple for a blessing from a Buddhist monk, buy mementos at a local handicraft market or trek through pristine jungle to reach a plunging waterfall. Golf fans can take their pick of Phuket’s six golf courses, and the resort also has four flood lit tennis courts.
Sleeping
Wherever you lay your head at Amanpuri, you can be assured of a good night’s sleep in pavilions and villas that come with soothing Asian design, spacious bathrooms, outdoor lounging salas, sea views and private pools. For extra space and seclusion, opt for one of the villas, which are strung out along the peninsula and are cocooned in lush gardens cradling large pools. A number of residential villas have four to 12 bedrooms, making them ideal retreats for larger families and groups especially with the use of a dedicated housekeeper and private chef.
Food & Drink
Amanpuri offers a wide array of culinary options although Arva is a standout take on refined Italian dining alongside high quality Thai cuisine by the pool, and a Japanese restaurant on the beach. Eclectic gastronomic experiences include an exclusive dinner on a floating platform adrift in the Andaman Sea, a Thai cooking masterclass and a pasta-making workshop which is a great family-bonding activity. Spend a romantic evening with a private beach barbecue illuminated by candles or cruise the Andaman Sea at sunset with champagne and delectable nibbles on Aman’s private yacht.
What Stands Out
Undoubtably, Amanpuri’s service is some of the best around. Private butlers offer an almost mind-reading service, rooms are cleaned sometimes more than two times a day, the restaurant team learn your little whims and every member of staff is primed to bend over backwards to meet each request. Even though the hotel is over 30 years old, the service has evolved with the times, recognising the need for either privacy or attentiveness and the villas see the staff service up a notch with their own complement of staff including a housekeeper and chef.
Best For
If you’re travelling with children in tow, Amanpuri will make life easy and relaxed with plenty to do from cookery classes to mini-wildlife safaris to the skateboard half-pipe, Go-Pro editing suite and Thai boxing lessons. If wellness is your focus, Amanpuri is the place to come. Its Holistic Wellness Centre offers everything from detox purifying programs to hi-tech IV infusions and advanced blood tests and the glass walled gym is the epitome of tech fitness with a muay Thai boxing ring, Pilates and yoga studio for private sessions.
