Located in the heart of the Douro Valley in Samodães, which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Six Senses formerly known as Aquapura Douro Valley hotel in Portugal is surrounded by a magnificent landscape overlooking the Douro River.
The original building was redeveloped and transformed into a luxury hotel in 2007, and in 2015 will open its doors as the first European Six Senses property, Six Senses Douro Valley. Each space is unique and reflects the colours and textures of the Portuguese Douro region.
The hotel has a blend between the traditional 19th century architecture and a contemporary interior, which gives rise to an atmosphere in which serenity reigns.
All the rooms and suites are individually decorated, with great warmth and style, most have stunning river views through wide panoramic windows and some have beautiful terraces. There is also a collection of one to three bedroom private villas, some with private pools, which are the perfect holiday choice in this region of Portugal for groups of friends or families.
The hotel Six Senses Douro Valley is set in 2 hectares of land and gardens, all providing some beautiful walks, either by the river, through the forest or in the vineyards. There is also a large heated pool and an organic garden, both of which take advantage of the spectacular setting.
The excellent spa provides a world of purity and offers an enormously comprehensive array of treatments as well as an indoor heated pool, aromatic showers, panoramic sauna, laconium, herbal baths and even a heated waterbed.
