Soar Over the Southern Alps

New Zealand

As the helicopter lifts off for your journey into Milford Sound, peerless views of ionic Mitre Peak beckon. Get a birds-eye perspective of glistening glaciers, alpine lakes and rugged mountain peaks on this aerial exploration.

A helicopter flight over the Southern Alps gives you unparalleled access to some of New Zealand’s most remote areas. Hovering high above isolated valleys of ancient forests, pristine rivers, and ice-sculpted mountains, you then land in the snow for photos against the backdrop of Mount Aspiration. Next, the pilot guides you under 600 metre waterfalls and through fjords, before touching down among fur seals on the shores of the sound.

Returning to the skies, you continue along the length of Milford Sound then out into the Tasman Sea and the wild West Coast. The journey back to base takes you via the beautiful blue-green icefalls of the Harrison Valley, where you land upon the Mount Tutoko Glacier to behold its colossal crevasses and astounding rivers of ice. A gourmet picnic in a remote alpine meadow then rounds off what is sure to be one of the highlights of your time in New Zealand.
