Located in south-west China’s Yunnan Province, Lijiang is a perfect combination of captivating natural beauty and alluring ancient heritage. We’ll arrange an expert local guide to show you the highlights of this most picturesque region.
Climb by cable car over 4,500 metres to the top of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Believed by locals to resemble a jade dragon lying in the clouds, from the summit you can see panoramic views of majestic snow-capped peaks. On the far side of the mountain lies the jaw-dropping Tiger Leaping Gorge, where you’ll find exceptionally beautiful hiking trails.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll then head into Lijiang’s old town to explore on foot. Stroll the narrow cobblestone streets, and admire the architecture of the picturesque palaces, intricate canals and bridges (there are over 350 to explore). Head to Black Dragon Pond Park in the north of the town, where on a clear day you’ll have superb views of the mountain. Dotted around the pool you’ll find temples, pavilions and an arched stone bridge which frames the spectacular backdrop.
