The ‘Smoke that Thunders’ aptly describes Victoria Falls. A curtain of water that plummets over basalt cliffs with ferocious energy and power, the falls are not only stunning visually, but provide the backdrop for some of the most exciting adventures imaginable. Rainforest walks on spray-drenched paths opposite the falls are relatively tame whilst microlight flights, white-water rafting, bungee jumping and jet boating are just a few options available for adrenalin junkies. For excitement of another kind, Zambia’s only rhino are to be found in the tiny Mosi O Tunya National Park upriver; only recently introduced, a rhino calf has already been born in the park, paving the way for this endangered species to survive.
