The name Maharashtra means the 'The Great State', an apt name as it is one of the largest states in India. It has it all - vast mountain ranges, innumerous forts, miles of silver white beaches, festivals galore and scores of temples. It is also home to India's largest city, Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. Goa on the other hand is small enough for visitors to get completely ‘under its skin’. It is famous for its beaches but there is much more to it than this; world heritage architecture including the Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Western Ghats range, which are classified as a biodiversity hotspot.
