Located in the southwestern region of America, Arizona offers high desert lands, an abundance of Wild West history and the Grand Canyon National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This colourful, steep-sided gorge is carved through by the Colorado River, stretching 445 kilometres across the high plateaus and plunging up to 1,830 metres into the arid plateau. Aside from casual sightseeing, white water rafting, hiking, running and helicopter tours are especially popular here too. Arizona’s most popular holiday destination is Scottsdale, located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert, with a subtropical arid climate and one of the premiere golf and resort destinations in the world. Tucson, home to the University of Arizona, is located 100 kilometres north of the Mexican border and roughly 200 kilometres southeast of Phoenix, with a skyline dominated by mountains in every direction. One of the most amazing pieces of man-made architecture straddles the border of Arizona and Nevada. The Hoover Dam is astounding when one considers it was constructed from 1931 to 1936, took the lives of over 100 workers and the construction methods used were completely ahead of their time and some practices used are still in operation today.

Accommodation on offer in both states, while obviously being of a luxury standard can make ones holiday include both canyons and mountains plus shopping and galleries.
