Chongwe River House occupies a prime spot on the banks of the peaceful Chongwe River, a tributary of the mighty Zambezi. Uniquely designed for up to eight guests this exquisite private house offers four spacious en suite bedrooms and a vast dining and sitting area as well as a swimming pool.
Open seasonally from April to November Chongwe River House offers a plethora of activities that are exclusive to house guests and include fly fishing. Private vehicles, guides and armed scouts for walking safaris coupled with canoes and boats enable guests to explore the riches of the surroundings at their own pace.
Perfectly suited to groups and families Chongwe River House takes children over the age of seven, a child minder can be pre arranged, while a wide range of hosted activities for children make sure that they enjoy their holiday as much as their parents. The private chef and house manager ensure that meals and activities are timed to suit your individual requirements.
The house, built from natural materials is curvy and organic, low bridges span flowing water in the main sitting room while soft coloured pebbles from the river are embedded in the ceilings. Bathrooms offer waterfall showers and exquisitely carved wood and white marble basins crafted by the famous Zambian artist, Eddie Mumba.
The views afforded from the house are simply stunning, stretching over the bush and river to the mountainous escarpment beyond. The river attracts all manner of birds and animals, particularly exciting are the huge male elephants for which the area is famous.
