Kafue National Park is an undiscovered gem in the heart of Zambia, its northern reaches encompass a vast floodplain that is predicted soon to equal the Okavango Delta for game-viewing. Rated as some of the finest grasslands in Africa, in the dry season the Busanga Plains area is populated by great herds of game, including rare antelope as well as the tree-climbing lion, while in the green season the bird life is astonishing; with more than 500 species recorded, this is a prime destination for serious bird-watching.
Built on a picturesque 'island' overlooking the rolling Busanga Plains, Shumba Camp is Kafue's premier bush camp. Raised on stilts, it has stupendous views in all directions, some of the best vantage points being from the oversized beds or sofas in the six luxurious tented suites.A viewing deck with an outdoor fireplace and a delightful dining area set under large fig trees glowing with candlelight are especially inviting, while an infinity pool that
