Set in the heart of the Busanga Plains, within close proximity to permanent water and the floodplains, Shumba Camp is perfectly situated to take advantage of the great herds of plains game and their predators, including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion. Viewing of species like Puku, Red lechwe and hippo is possible for much of the day from the comfort of the tent or the main deck, while the camp's trees ensure both shade and constant bird activity in the canopy above. Built on a picturesque island overlooking the rolling Busanga Plains, the camp is Kafue's premier bush camp. Raised on stilts, it has stupendous views in all directions, some of the best vantage points being from the oversized beds or sofas in the six luxurious tented suites. A viewing deck with an outdoor fireplace and a delightful dining area, set under large fig trees glowing with candlelight are especially inviting, while an infinity pool that seems to spill onto the plains beyond is indeed the icing on the cake.
