The spectacular Con Dao archipelago of islands is located to the southeast of Vietnam. The largest and most beautiful, Con Dao Island, hosts the Six Senses Con Dao along a one kilometre, white sand beach surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, an untouched and breathtakingly beautiful area, protected for decades as a national and marine park.
Elegantly designed, spacious villas sit along a stretch of sandy beach, sheltered by the green forested hills behind and with stunning vistas of the deep blue sea and the curve of the bay. Each has its own private infinity pool, indoor-outdoor bathroom and breathtaking views of the South China Sea. With a passionate commitment to supporting and protecting the environment, Con Dao has been built with the very lightest ecological footprint. All building materials are from natural, sustainable sources and local where possible. The teak is reclaimed from the Vietnamese interior and includes more than a 1,000 beautifully carved antique panels.
Six Senses Con Dao delivers adventure, culture, sports and excursions, a whole list of experiences to keep one entertained here in paradise. If guests can tear themselves away from the magnificent softly curving pool by the beach with mature mahogany trees to provide shade, they might want to take a boat trip to a nearby island or sail a hobie cat through the enchanting waters of the sea. If this all sounds too strenuous, the spa, set amid the dramatic backdrop of the Lo Voi Mountain and surrounded by tropical gardens, offers traditional Vietnamese healing practices and incorporates the local herbs and flower essences to provide a selection of SLOW LIFE treatments.
The main restaurant, By the Beach serving Asian Fusion and Western cuisine is perched on top of the sand dunes between the sea and the river, with relaxing day beds, sofas, as well as dining tables. The wine cellar and Chef’s Table next to the beach also offer special places to dine and of course dinner can be served in guests’ villas, from romantic five course dinners to beach barbeques. The curved swimming pool is a good place to be served snacks and salads from the Vietnamese Market, a recreation of a local fishing village and market. An array of gastronomy awaits; Deli’cious offering cold meats, cheese, pickles and chutneys, a bakery with more than a touch of influence left over from French colonial days and the Vietnamese Kitchen serving fresh noodles, soups, wraps and rolls, cooked over charcoal-fired woks and wood-fired ovens.
The remote setting and preserved natural landscape provides an extraordinary sense of seclusion, creating an ideal place to escape, relax and live close to the natural elements.
