Gorilla Forest Camp

Perched on the side of a mountain on the northern edge the huge primeval forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this luxury tented camp provides the ideal base for gorilla tracking and birding. The 127 mile UNESCO World Heritage site contains a huge diversity of animal, bird and plant life. 113 species of mammals including a herd of the rare forest elephant, 200 species of butterfly, over 360 species of birds and 324 tree varieties, ten of which are endemic to the park. Most notably it is home to seven species of primates, including half of the 600 worldwide population of the rare Mountain Gorilla.

The accommodation is designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding forest, valleys and mountains. There are eight double, en suite tents raised on wooden platforms, each with a bathtub looking out onto the forest and a spacious veranda where guests can relax, enjoy a private meal and take in the rainforest that provided the inspiration for the animation of Disney's The Jungle Book. The Camp bar and dining cottage with a raised natural platform for open air dining also overlook the rainforest. At night a traditional African campfire is lit, around which you can hear more about the gorillas or simply enjoy some sundowners.
