Amangiri, 'peaceful mountain', is located in the southwest region of the USA, where the states of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona meet.
Architecturally, the resort has been designed to blend into the landscape with natural hues, materials and textures a feature of the design. Amangiri offers 34 suites in total and all offer air-conditioning for summer and under-floor heating for the cooler months. Each suite is accessed by a private courtyard and features a combined living area and bedroom, sitting area, dressing room and bathroom with twin rain showers and bath tub with uninterrupted views of the landscape. A spacious desert lounge features a day bed and a central fireplace. Design finishes include white stone floors and concrete walls that echo the natural stone of the surrounding landscape, rawhide, natural timbers and fittings in blackened steel, while light-coloured cushions and soft throws add warmth. The Girijaala and Amangiri Suite each feature a private pool on top.
The Dining Room houses an open kitchen with its wood-fired oven imparting a unique flavour and rustic authenticity to Amangiri's cuisine. The menu changes frequently and is driven by locally-sourced seasonal produce.
Activities in the area are virtually limitless, from treks and guided hikes to customised rock climbing and canyoneering, as well as recreational and advanced biking. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, with the pristine waters of Lake Powell, provides access to some amazing scenery and geological, as well as numerous prehistoric cliff dwelling and rock art sites. Boating day trips provide access to the turquoise waters where visitors may swim and kayak. For those who enjoy fishing, the lake is famous for its striped bass, walleye and largemouth bass. From hot air ballooning and scenic helicopter flights to equestrian adventures departing directly from the resort, take a unique opportunity to experience the area's sweeping landscape, canyons, peaks and mesas.
After a busy day, the 2,322-square metre Aman Spa at Amangiri offers the perfect respite. The complex of stone, water features and streams of light, offers a number of unique treatment venues. The Water Pavilion features a steam room, a dry sauna and a cold plunge pool and the Floatation Pavilion offers colour therapy-enhanced floatation treatments. The Beauty Salon offers manicures and pedicures while the Yoga Pavilion offers individual and group yoga sessions in a light-filled setting.
