Singita Grumeti Reserves - Sasakwa

To the west of the Serengeti National Park the 400,000 acre private Grumeti Reserves house three beautiful lodges that between them sleep up to 56 guests - Sasakwa Hill Lodge, Sabora Plains Tented Camp and the Faru Faru River Lodge. Based on the grassy plains bordering the Serengeti to which more one and a half million wildebeest and thousands of zebra and antelope complete an annual three hundred mile journey in search of life sustaining grasses, this is wildlife heaven. To complete the experience of a lifetime there is a private helipad and 16 polo and thoroughbred horses for riding and horse safari enthusiasts, not to mention many more amazing sporting and leisure facilities in each of the individual lodges. This is luxury with a clear conscience, The Grumeti Fund, set up by the Reserve, funds many initiatives to support the local communities and wildlife, such as the reintroduction of 25 Black Rhino to the Serengeti eco-system.

This hill-top based, flagship lodge of Singita Grumeti Reserves offers amazing views over the Serengeti plains. Built in the style of a grand 1920s colonial home, it houses nine en suite, air-conditioned cottage suites with one to four large bedrooms, separate lounge and dressing areas plus their own heated infinity pools. Suites are furnished with wooden parquet floors, antiques, Persian silk carpets and silver and lead out to a private veranda with a viewing spot. Each air conditioned cottage has been positioned for privacy in a landscaped garden.

The nine rooms and lodge areas open onto long sweeping verandas and well kept lawns and include beautifully appointed drawing rooms decorated with fine antiques and works of art. The dining room is dressed with silver candelabras, Stuart crystal and Wedgwood china. There is also a bar, garden room, reading library with internet facilities and billiards room as well as a Colonial Trading Post and wine cellar. Activities-wise, there are two tennis courts (clay and grass), a gymnasium, spa, steam room and a heated infinity swimming pool and Jacuzzi. It is also situated a few minutes walk away from an equestrian centre with a walled riding track.
