The only lodge in Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is small, sophisticated and designed with classically understated chic in mind. Set in one of Tanzania's most diverse parks, the lodge is surrounded by habitats that range from lake to swamp and from forest to the steep escarpment, which marks the eastern edge of the Great Rift Valley. The lodge lies a kilometre from the lakeshore tucked into a cool mahogany forest. Ten stilted treehouse suites with open air showers and luxury bathrooms are cradled in the tree boughs, with large decks and a decor that combines bleached wood and woven palm in muted natural tones. The park is home to an extraordinary diversity of birdlife, especially waterfowl, as well as antelope, primates and predators. The famous tree-climbing lion are a magical sight, if elusive and there are plenty of buffalo and wildebeest to be seen.
