Small and intimate, this Caribbean hideaway is perfect for those wanting a resort full of tropical character. Its small size means it has a personal touch that a larger hotel could never have. Set in eight acres of flamboyant tropical gardens with more than 100 different species of plants, East Winds is low key and informal as well as elegant and very private.
Scattered throughout the grounds are thirty charming rooms housed in pretty, single storey Chattel-style cottages and rondavels. Each room is styled with modern furnishings such as enormous beds with cottons, clean fresh colours, cool tiled floors and private terraces.
The cuisine at the Inn is excellent. Fresh fish and lobster are brought to the beach by passing fishermen and transformed by the award winning, French chef into delectable dishes complemented by carefully chosen wines. Four course dinners or lobster barbecues on Friday night are a perfect start to evenings that end with guests being entertained by visiting musicians at the hotel’s new Steinway piano, the first in the Caribbean.
For nature lovers there are fascinating walks to be enjoyed around the gardens or guided treks through St Lucia’s lush tropical rain forests. Water lovers will enjoy the free form pool while the powdery beach with its kayaks and pedaloes, tranquil waters and coral reef is an endless source of enjoyment.
