Ceylon Tea Trails

The very name Ceylon conjures up thoughts of a bygone age. The four colonial bungalows at Ceylon Tea Trails, built for British tea estate managers in the days of the Raj, will magically transport guests back to a pace of life that is in harmony with the surrounding hills and valleys. The Bogawantalawa Valley lies at an elevation of between 1,200 and 1,400 metres in the heart of Sri Lanka and boasts breathtaking mountains, dramatic ravines and cascading waterfalls. Within the valley are the four bungalows, all surrounded by tea plantations and commanding incredible views. Castlereagh Bungalow comprises three suites, two rooms and a pool located by the shore of Castlereagh Lake. With elevated views over the same lake, Summerville is an intimate bungalow, with just three suites and one luxury room. High up at the head of the valley Tientsin Bungalow, with three suites and three rooms, has fantastic gardens, a tennis court and a new swimming pool, while Norwood Bungalow, the oldest of all, built in 1890, is located on a steep valley side between Castlereagh Lake and Tientsin and has a beautiful pool, three suites and two rooms.

The bungalows may have their roots firmly in the past, but the interiors are a brilliant mix of natural woods and pale tones to create a fantastic fusion of old and new with all rooms having traditional bathtubs, showers and their own unique charm. A stay at one of these beautiful bungalows is a magical experience, where guests can choose to base themselves at one or spend a few nights at each, walking between them along the trails and through tea plantations. Choose to have lunch at any, with the option of a transfer back to their bungalow if legs are tired. Staying on a working tea estate provides the perfect opportunity to see how the world's finest tea is harvested by hand and processed. A visit to one of the tea factories is a must. Away from the peace and tranquillity of tea, guests can enjoy thrilling white water rafting, kayaking and mountain biking and leisurely hill walks.

Stay for a week as a peaceful holiday or as part of a tailor-made luxury journey combining other properties within Sri Lanka. The magical and mystical spirit of Sri Lanka ensures Ceylon Tea Trails is surely everyone's cup of tea.
