This wonderful boutique hotel just below Table Mountain is small, svelte and very stylish. Set in Higgovale, Cape Town's smartest neighbourhood, and just a few minutes drive away from the action of the Waterfront, Kensington Place has been voted one of the 'Top 101 Hotels' by Tatler and one of the top ten guesthouses in the world by Condé Nast Traveller. And therein lies its appeal; it has the warmth of a guesthouse with the privacy, service and luxury of a top class hotel. Eight suites are decorated in an elegant European style overlaid with a subtle African influence. The look is chic and modern with heavily interlined neutral curtains, zebra fabric covered chairs, Calvin Klein throws and sumptuous bathrooms. A one-to-one staff to guest ratio ensures guests are beautifully looked after, every suite has a private terrace overlooking views described as 'unsurpassable' and the food is as fresh as fresh can be.
Outside, a candlelit wooden deck surrounds a plunge pool whilst breakfast is served al fresco in a sunny garden that produces roses whose scent pervades the hotel. Exquisitely judged and in perfect taste, Kensington Place is quite simply stunning.
