The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is a luxury lodge in the renowned Hawke’s Bay wine region, successfully combining rustic chic and the most breathtaking views.
The lodge is known as The Farm as it is set on a 2,500 hectare sheep and cattle farm which encompasses land reminiscent of the American West atop cliffs sitting 250 metres above the ocean.
From the outside, the lodge resembles a cluster of farm buildings, while inside one finds graciously scaled rooms full of natural light and unexpected treasures. Comfort and ease are at a premium with each room taking on a character of its own while retaining the rural feel of the New Zealand sheep station and wine country.
Spacious cottages open onto large porches and offer the most stunning Pacific panoramas while the larger four bedroom Owner’s Cottage is perfect for families or groups. The cottages feature calm colours that suggest a traditional rural farm yet contain all of the modern amenities one could wish for.
The lodge has two dining rooms; the main one features light, contemporary food from the accomplished Chef Tim Pickering and the covered loggia is perfect for a relaxed brunch. The menus make the most of the delicious local fare, pale-pink Hawke’s Bay lamb and tiger prawns matched with the finest New Zealand wines.
There are numerous snug reading nooks, perfect for quiet reflection and a fantastic spa with ocean views for pampering and relaxation.
Cape Kidnappers Nature Reserve runs predator-free and native bird repopulation programmes and offers guests the opportunity to assist in tracking and monitoring Kiwi birds released on the property. There are around 20,000 gannets at the Cape which are members of the Booby family and have distinctive black eye markings and a pale gold crown, enough to delight any bird lover.
Golf enthusiasts will delight in the legendary par 71 course that will challenge all skill levels. Cape Kidnappers’ Golf Course has won many awards and been hailed as on of the great modern marvels in golf.
Guests can choose between a huge number of other activities, including quad bike tours, tractor and trailer safaris and of course fishing.
The uplifting effect of being surrounded by such incredible natural beauty cannot be underestimated.
