Hidden in the bay of islands in the remote far north of New Zealand, Kauri Cliffs encompasses just less than 4,000 acres of lush coastal pastures with dramatic water frontage and luxury accommodation and affords spectacular 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, Cape Brett and the offshore Cavalli Islands.
The main lodge is furnished in grand colonial style and boasts enormous, airy rooms with huge fireplaces, a central atrium and a spacious veranda. Eleven supremely comfortable board and batten cottages offer two guest suites and private verandas that have been designed to afford the same stunning vista as the main lodge.
Dinner can be taken in the lodge or in your suite, alternatively enjoy a picnic on a private beach. The world class menu with local roots and a global reach is inspired by Pacific Rim cuisine, artfully combining Asian, Middle Eastern and Indian flavours with local produce.
For the active, Kauri Cliffs offers a gym and fitness centre, lap pool, spa, heated infinity pool, endless walking and mountain bike trails, two miles of private beach and tennis courts. The Pacific Ocean is also at guests’ disposal and offers sea kayaking, game fishing, snorkelling and diving. The ‘Rainbow Warrior’ one of the world’s top wreck dives is located a short distance from Kauri Cliffs. Add to this a championship golf course and scenic helicopter flights and there is plenty to occupy the days.
