‘'The new jewel in the desert' according to the Tatler Travel Guide, Serra Cafema is the most remote camp in Southern Africa. It lies in glorious isolation on the green banks of the Kunene River, encompassed by rugged mountains, sand dunes and the compelling silence of thousands of square kilometres of empty space. Reached by a spectacular flight and equally spectacular drive, Serra Cafema is surrounded by ancient trees and has seven raised tents with en suite bathrooms, a swimming pool, dining room and a bar.
Cool Atlantic breezes keep the temperature comfortable while those who like their remoteness tempered with great food will be delighted at the quality of the cuisine in this remote wilderness. South of the camp, the stunning scenery of the Hartmann Valley is dotted with springbok, ostrich and even leopard while boat trips along the Kunene River, overlooking Angola, reveal basking crocodiles. Walking trails in the mountains and river valleys, quad bikes and 4x4 safaris over the dunes that end at tumbling waterfalls, and cultural interaction with the friendly Himba people, the last true nomads in Africa, are also highlights of this idyllically peaceful camp.
