The exceptional family run Okonjima Homestead lies amid the unspoilt beauty of the Omboroko Mountains near the Waterberg Plateau in northern Namibia. The lodge is home to the AfriCat Foundation whose aim is to protect and conserve Namibia's much threatened cats, especially the cheetah and leopard. Staying at Okonjima allows guests to see the foundation at work, follow numerous guided walking trails and enjoy the sights and sounds of large cats and other animals at the waterhole from the secrecy of a hide. From this spacious hide, the array of birdlife is also a delight with over three hundred species identified at the lodge.
Okonjima consiste of the Main Lodge with ten double rooms with excellent facilities set around formal gardens, a secluded swimming pool and a beautifully maintained lawn, the Luxury Bush Camp with eight unique thatched, African-style chalets, the brand new select Private Bush Suite with only two rooms and the Grand Villa with two rooms and two suites, the ultimate getaway for a family holiday.
