La Mamounia, the former Marrakech Palace of the crown prince of Morocco and a favourite haunt of Winston Churchill has undergone a remarkable refurbishment. While still keeping the original charm and period detail that moved the aforementioned Prime Minister to declare it the loveliest spot on earth, La Mamounia has now been brought up to date by internationally acclaimed designer, Jacques Garcia.
This magnificent hotel is located in the heart of the imperial city, nestled in a 17 hectares park, only 5 minutes walk from the Jemaa El Fna Square. There are 136 rooms, 64 suites and 7 signature suites including, of course, the Churchill Suite. There are also three Riads each with three bedrooms, elegant salons and their own private swimming pool.
The facilities are excellent and the service second to none. When it comes to gastronomy guests may choose from four restaurants: Le Marocain, Le Français and L'Italien both with Michelin star chefs as well as Le Pavillon de la Piscine overlooking the pool. There are also five bars for five different experiences.
Guests have superb leisure facilities on hand, from two clay tennis courts, a fully equipped fitness studio and a swimming pool surrounded by fragrant flower gardens.
La Mamounia has proved to be a very popular honeymoon destination throughout the ages, and offers a fabulous Spa by Shiseido and maroc Maroc where guests can indulge in treatments combining ancient and modern techniques. The spa offers a vast choice of treatments and has six outdoor massage cabins, Jacuzzi, manicure and pedicure cabins, heated ozone swimming pool and even a hair salon on site.
