The first of the legendary Aman resorts to open in Africa, the low-rise, rose pink Amanjena bears a distinct Moorish influence, miles from the Balinese style of its Far East sisters. However, all the other elements of the Aman brand are evident, from understated contemporary luxury in the design and amenities to the sort of service that would make you think twice about ever staying anywhere else.
Set in a gated complex five miles south of the Marrakech with amazing views of the Atlas Mountains, the central focus of the Amanjena is a massive fish-filled reservoir that feeds two shallow canals running between the hotels 34 'pavilions' and six 'maisons'. With domed living areas, king-sized platform beds, spacious green marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, the air-conditioned pavillions are extremely luxurious without being overly ornate. Each pavilion has a private courtyard complete with gazebo and fountain. For even more privacy, try the two storey maisons with their walled courtyard gardens, private swimming pools and butler service.
Amanjena features a superb Health and Beauty Centre, including hammam, spa, gym and swimming pool. There's also a 27-hole championship golf course and two floodlit tennis courts.
