Alila Villas Hadahaa is unique in terms of its cutting-edge architecture; it is also the only resort in the Maldives to be built from scratch to the standards of Green Globe, with environmental awareness at the forefront of every step of both the construction and the operation.
Opened in August 2009 Alila Villas Hadahaa is the first resort to be built in the North Huvadhoo Atoll, one of the world's largest and deepest. The sense of space and isolation is immense, being 10 kilometres from the nearest inhabited island, absolute tranquillity is guaranteed. Spacious villas feature vast sliding windows that afford stunning ocean views seamlessly uniting the interior and exterior of the villas. Each has a unique minimalist design of timber and stone and comes with a vast, open-air deck with myriad gadgetry and a mini-bar stocked according to personal taste.
The Spa by Mandara offers five treatment villas and six relaxation pavilions in lush gardens, as well as a tranquil spa pool area, where guests can enjoy healthy spa cuisine. Battuta's and Relish restaurants offer Maldivian, Asian and international cuisine respectively, while in-villa or sandbank dining are popular romantic alternatives.
To keep guests active there is a 40 metre pool, a dive and water sports centre offering non-motorised water sports and an underwater scooter; the diving and snorkelling here is extraordinary as the coral reefs are incredibly colourful. Evenings can be spent enjoying a drink at the poolside cigar bar, listening to magical Tales by the Fire, a collection of Maldivian fables and folklore or reading a book under the stars in the glass roofed library.
