High on a grassy plateau surrounded by rolling hills stretching away far below, Chelinda Lodge has one of the best views in Africa and offers a unique and unusual safari experience. In addition to excellent plains game viewing and bird watching on foot, horseback or 4x4, the area is home to millions of wild orchids that literally cover the hills with bright bursts of colour during the flowering season.
Beautifully furnished and utterly tranquil, the lodge accommodates up to sixteen guests in eight two-storey log cabins. Open-plan bedrooms and sitting rooms with ensuite bathrooms, private verandas, queen sized beds and wing chairs in front of log fires occupy the ground floor whilst upstairs another living area overlooks the stupendous views. As the only lodge in the Nyika National Park, guests are assured a totally private wilderness experience.
Such open big sky country is perfect for riding safaris, whilst walking expeditions reveal plentiful sightings of roan antelope, sable and much more. The birdlife is exceptional as the plateau is a transitional migratory zone between East and Southern African Birds. In all, Chelinda is a must for anyone visiting Malawi.
