High on a grassy plateau surrounded by rolling hills stretching away far below, Chelinda Lodge has one of the best views in Africa. The area is home to millions of wild orchids that cover the hills with bright bursts of colour during the flowering season. Beautifully furnished and utterly tranquil, the lodge accommodates up to 16 guests in 8 two-storey log cabins. Open-plan bedrooms and sitting rooms with en suite bathrooms, private verandas, queen-size beds and wing chairs in front of log fires occupy the ground floor, while upstairs another living area overlooks the stupendous views. As the only lodge in the Nyika National Park, guests are assured a totally private wilderness experience. The open big sky country is perfect for riding safaris, while walking expeditions reveal plentiful sightings of Roan and Sable antelope. The birdlife is exceptional as the plateau is a transitional migratory zone between East and Southern African birds. In all, Chelinda is a must for anyone visiting Malawi.
