Overlooking Mount Kenya’s snow-capped peaks, Borana Ranch is a family run lodge set in 35,000 acres of spectacular semi-desert landscapes. One of the most beautiful areas in Africa, the unique combination of dry savannah, wooded streams and forest renders Borana is home to a huge variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, elephant, reticulated giraffe, grevy zebra, leopard, lion and the rare greater kudu.
The lodge has six beautifully furnished cottages with open fireplaces, ensuite bathrooms, verandahs and picture windows opening out onto glorious views. The bar, dining room and swimming pool overlook a much used waterhole. For a more private experience, Laragai, set on a spur of Mount Kenya, is perfect for families and friends. Sumptuously furnished and accommodating up to sixteen guests, one could not ask for a more exclusive safari experience.
Walking and horseback safaris are memorable features of Borana Ranch. Conservation is a high priority, game is plentiful and the ranch is home to more than three hundred species of bird, traditional cattle herds and a rhino sanctuary. A private landing strip confers infinite possibilities for exploring but with such gracious hosts, knowledgeable rangers and superb game viewing on the doorstep the temptation to stay put at either the lodge or Laragai is overwhelming.
