Manda Bay is a small boutique hotel located on the northwestern tip of Manda Island, one of the many unspoilt, idyllic islands of the Lamu archipelago. An exclusive resort only a 20 minute boat ride from Lamu, the oldest Swahili town dating back to the 13th century and a World Heritage Site, it offers beautiful beach front accommodation, informal pampering and barefoot luxury. The buildings are constructed using palm, driftwood and local building techniques. There is a central dining room featuring locally crafted furniture and antiques, large lounge and bar area on the waterfront and fresh water swimming pool. The bedrooms are spacious with en suite bathrooms and overhead fans. Surrounded by miles of soft yellow sand, Manda Bay can provide a beach and bush experience with campfires, stargazing, walks and water sports activities, as well as peace and quiet. It is well known for its excellent cuisine, deep-sea fishing for marlin and sailfish and the oldest ruins recorded on the East African coast are situated within walking distance of the lodge.
