In the heart of Chianti Classico region, just 12 kilometres from Florence, stands the 15th century Villa Mangiacane. Once home to the noble Machiavelli family, this beautiful estate occupies a spectacular location and offers stunning views over Florence and the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Central to the estate is the main villa, where classical Italian style is blended with eclectic touches, creating a space that feels more like home than a hotel. Spacious, two level suites and deluxe rooms in the villa are all individual in their decor; some offer rich, sumptuous materials while others offer light airy colour schemes.
The Vineyard Villa, a renovated olive oil mill and the newest development on the estate, offers 19 rooms and suites as well as the swimming pool where guests can escape the heat in the height of summer. The main villa is also home to the sublime Nadushka Spa which is dedicated to the guests wellbeing. Blissful facials using Officina de Tornabuoni products from nearby Florence are enjoyed alongside Ayurvedic and hot stone therapies.
All meals at Villa Mangiacane are prepared by the Villa's private executive chef. Cuisine is Italian with an international twist. Lunches are taken in the beautiful herbal garden and around the infinity pool during the summer months. If guests wish, they can learn how to cook delicious dinners themselves by taking cookery lessons during their stay.
The staff are exceptionally friendly and passionate about attention to detail, whether they are laying out wonderful feasts for lunch under the pergola by the pool or running a rose petal-filled bath for after dinner.
A perfect way to spend an hour or two is to take a guided tour of the estate vineyard followed by some wine tasting. Should guests wish to venture out of the villa, they can enjoy a shopping or sightseeing trip to Florence using the complimentary shuttle service or venture further afield to San Gimignano and Siena. Alternatively, they can explore the plethora of surrounding picturesque villages and towns. It is impossible to leave Villa Mangiacane feeling anything other than revived, relaxed and rejuvenated.
