A true sense of space and privacy pervades at Rocco Forte’s super stylish and exclusive Verdura Golf & Spa Resort.
Built on the southern coast of Sicily, Verdura is a short drive from the charming fishing town of Sciacca, just 40 kilometres from the historic town of Agrigento and its famous Greek Temples, making it the perfect base for exploring the fascinating historical sites of the island. Set over 230 hectares of stunning landscape with almost two kilometres of private coastline, surprisingly it offers just 203 rooms and suites.
The resort was designed as environmentally friendly, in keeping with the local building style, using a range of natural materials such as stone, sand and wood. Lush vegetation and a large number of existing orange and olive trees surround the hotel. The interiors, designed by Olga Polizzi, blend modernity with tradition to reflect the art of simple luxury and to capture the essence of the island. A range of different textures is combined with warm, earthy tones to reflect the intense beauty of Sicily.
Verdura's four restaurants provide an extensive choice of exceptional menus created by renowned Italian Chef Fulvio Pierangelini using locally sourced fresh ingredients. Specialties are fresh seafood, grilled fish and fresh home-made pasta.
The resort boasts two championship 18 hole golf courses plus a 9 hole par 3 course, a driving range and extensive practice facilities, all designed by Kyle Phillips and managed by Niall Cameron.
The beautiful spa comprises 11 treatment rooms, each with their own terrace for outdoor treatments, a relaxation area, a spacious fully equipped gym with a glass wall overlooking the golf course, a covered swimming pool, a large wooden-decked terrace with four Thalassotherapy pools and an impressive double height hammam. A separate beauty area offers facilities for manicure, pedicure and hairdressing.
Activities are plentiful, from swimming in the stunning 60 metre two tiered pool overlooking the sea, tennis including the Tennis Academy, yoga classes and water sports to cooking classes. Complimentary bicycles are available for both children and adults. Also available off site are horse riding, land and sea excursions, scuba diving as well as fishing.
Families with children of all ages will benefit from the extensive children's programme, which includes a dedicated kid's club area complete with a children's pool, open seven days a week. It welcomes children aged 4 to 12 years old. Another dedicated programme caters to teenagers from 12 years and above.
