Positioned in the south of the Selinda Reserve, Zarafa Camp is an intimate and luxurious four tent camp sat under the shady canopy of trees, overlooking the savannahs and floodplains of the Zibadianja Lagoon. The view from camp is breathtaking and at the lagoon huge pods of hippo gather, while crocodiles slide into the water. Elephant are common, with densities during the dry season on a par with those of the Chobe National Park. The open plains is an ideal habitat for cheetah, while leopard viewing is rewarding. Other common species include: buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hyena, antelope, plus the chance to spot a number of nocturnal species during night drives. The 100 square metre 'marquis style' canvas tents are expansive and open air without exposing guests to the elements. Each tent is decorated with custom-made furniture, one enters through a large lounge appointed with a leather sofa, personal bar and writing desk. Adjoining the lounge is the main bedroom and dressing area, where the overhead fans and seductive mosquito nets set the ambience. A private veranda, running the length of the front of the tent, offers a plunge pool and outdoor lounge. The camp is among the few in the world to be powered entirely by solar energy. Each tent comes with its own Canon professional camera including zoom lenses for use during a stay. Photos are then burned to a DVD as a souvenir.
