Abu Camp & Villa Okavango

Every aspect of Abu Camp is magnificent, the setting included. It lies in the western Okavango Delta in a private concession bordering the Moremi Reserve amidst riverine forest, open grasslands and clear papyrus-fringed water channels. Such pristine beauty is a perfect foil for the camp, a sumptuous tented affair that takes the word 'tent' and moves it into a completely different dimension.

Six fabulous suites are surrounded by teak decking and furnished with antique mahogany beds, Persian rugs, sofas and armchairs upholstered in glorious fabrics, bathrooms with copper or porcelain baths and the fluffiest towels imaginable. The staff to guest ratio is four to one, champagne flows at every occasion and outstanding food is served on gleaming silver with crystal and linen. There is an overwhelming temptation at Abu Camp is just to stay put and enjoy its unpretentious luxury.

The accommodation is only part of the magical experience; the real attraction of Abu Camp is exploring this heavenly corner of Africa by elephant. The camp's creator Randall Moore has proved that African elephant can indeed be trained. Each is equipped with a comfortable padded saddle and profers mesmerising close-up views of wildlife oblivious to their human cargo. These dignified, hedonistic beasts are the ultimate 4x4. Abu Camp also provides superb game viewing from either vehicles, mokoros or on foot but when the alternative is riding a swaying, ambling elephant that is truly part of the bush, there is surely no comparison.

Just across the lagoon from Abu Camp set in a grove of Sycamore Fig and Ebony trees is the exclusive use two bedroomed Villa Okavango which has dedicated butler, chef, and personal game ranger. Gourmet meals are prepared as and when they are required and all guests needs catered to. From the tranquil swimming pool to the high, expansive deck allowing guests to view the tranquil lagoon and the surrounding landscape, Villa Okavango will ensures that guests can unwind in comfort amidst the splendour of the Okavango Delta.
