Cap Juluca

On the tiny paradise island of Anguilla, Cap Juluca has scooped award after award for its unparalleled luxury, friendly ultra-professional service and fairytale architecture.  Standing like a palace with Moorish style domes, turrets and parapets on a peninsula facing one of Anguilla’s most pristine white beaches, the whole resort is spread over nearly 73 hectares. Such is its seclusion and security that there is no need for room keys.

Surrounded by gardens scented with frangipani and jasmine, 18 Moorish style villas are strewn along a perfect half-moon of azure water, each housing no more than six enormous rooms. Luxury double rooms, suites and pool villas are furnished with exquisite minimalist chic. The junior suites are quite simply immense, with white and ivory tiled floors and stunning ceramic vases. Many of the bathrooms include vast double bathtubs fitted with headrests and glassed-in marble showers flanked by garden solariums for private tanning.

The restaurants at Cap Juluca are also outstanding, courtesy of world-class chefs. Great beachside grills at Blue or formal dining at Pimms, where guests can request their favourites, are gastronomic treats thanks to the inventive cooking while delicious pan-Asian cuisine is on offer in Spice. Flights, a wine bar with resident wine connoisseur provides the perfect accompaniment or just a peaceful spot from which to enjoy a fine vintage, a plate of tapas and the view.

Cap Juluca is the perfect romantic spot for honeymooners and couples alike, while families will also enjoy this magnificent resort. With far reaching views across the sparkling carpet of blue to the shores of neighbouring St Martin, plus a seemingly endless powder-beach, there can be few places on earth to match the romanticism of Cap Juluca.

Service is, predictably, faultless. Raise a flag on the beach and chilled towels, drinks or lunch will appear. There is also a terrific array of land and water based sporting facilities, including kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing, water-skiing and sailing. Temenos golf course, designed by Greg Norman, offers 18 challenging, dramatic holes with views of St Martin and the Caribbean Sea. No wonder it is the favourite haunt of those who want a little taste of heaven.
