Offering a warm Gulf Stream climate and splendid beaches, the Canary Islands are the perfect place to take a tailor made holiday escape during the harsh UK winter months. It is easy to avoid the crowds and enjoy a luxury break in authentic surroundings.

The landscape of each of the seven Canary Islands is radically different, making them a delight for walkers, nature and beach lovers alike. In the south of Gran Canaria, the third largest but most densely populated island, one will find endless beaches and pretty ports, such as Puerto de Mogan. Other attractions of a luxury holiday in the Canary Islands is the duty-free shopping in the northern capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas, or visiting the Island’s highest point Pozo de Las Nieves in the centre, or taking a visit to the unspoilt west coast and national park area.

Tenerife is the most well known of the islands and has rugged volcanic landscapes and superb botanical gardens to offer. Other delights are beach resorts, galleries, museums, casinos and an opera house. Pico del Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, which can be reached on foot or via Teleférico, provides spectacular views of all of the Canary Islands.

For ‘foodies’, tiny fishing villages guarantee beautifully fresh fish, including specialties like Sancocho Canario, salted fish in hot sauce.

The Canary Islands apparently gave birth to the myth of the Garden of Hesperides, where immortality-giving apples grew. While a luxury holiday here may not make one immortal, it will certainly revive the spirits.
